MOOC style learning: Graphic Arts Certificate – Cal Institute of the Arts

Sorry for the large gap since last posting (October), and I did drop in a quick note about a book I’ve been reading earlier today.

I wanted to let you know about a cool opportunity I have been given. To participate in a MOOC (a massively open online course) that is housed by Coursera and is sponsored by the California Institute of the Arts.

I’m just starting Course 3, so I’ll try to add some notes about the first 2 courses later. Each is ~4 weeks long; meaning ~4 lectures: video, reading, exercises, assignments.

Course 1:  Fundamentals of Graphic Design

Course 2: Intro to Typography

Course 3: Intro to Imagemaking

Course 4: Ideas from the History of Graphic Design

Capstone project : Brand New Brand

In a single word, these courses are “fantastic”.

I’ll come back here and link to my experiences with each class as I work through the content and assignments – from the class list above.

p.s. check out this really cool page/gallery by the students at Cali Institute of Arts

/with gratitude and peace
